Call it the “Empower Bar.”
Chef and Ironman triathlete Lentine Alexis has whipped up the “She Persisted Bar” for Mother Jones that’s chock full of superfoods to rally your tired limbs after a long day of marching for equal rights.
Apparently, sowing the seeds of change involves eating lots of actual, well, seeds. The portable protest meal packs in energizing chia, pumpkin and sesame seeds, along with rolled oats, medjool dates and bee pollen.

Alexis swears it doesn’t taste like cardboard.
“Those little seeds added together create something that’s really powerful and that’s lasting and vital for us to continue no matter what the political or athletic climate may be,” she said.
The snack harks back to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell booting Elizabeth Warren off the Senate floor mid-speech while she was criticizing attorney general nominee Jeff Sessions. McConnell’s defense that, “She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted,” has become a feminist rallying cry repeated on t-shirts, posters and even body tattoos.
And now he can eat his words.
