Tis the season for bedazzled brows and beards with ornaments
These hair-raising holiday trends are growing fast.
Christmas tree eyebrows are the latest look beauty bloggers are showing off on Instagram. Brows are brushed horizontally, set with wax and then shaped into tree peaks with a mascara wand. The faux “branches” get adorned with colorful stick-on jewels, and a dab of eye lash glue is applied the tip of the brow and topped with a star sticker. Some even get creative with a green-colored mascara for the branches and add glitter and painted-on baubles and gems.
“Why stop at your sweater? Spread Christmas joy via your face,” Taylor R, a Canadian beauty blogger captioned a DIY video for her Christmas tree brows on Instagram that received nearly 250,000 views.
Men with lots of facial hair seem to be spreading holiday cheer as well with Beardamanets and Beard Baubles — the tacky trend of hanging miniature ornaments on your beard. Some have even figured out a way to loop lights into their locks for the ultimate over-the-top Christmas look.
“They not only add a hint of style and class to your beard, but you will finally get the attention and respect that your luscious beard deserves,” the site Beardowear.com, which is hawking the ornaments for $12.50, reads.
The perfect ugly sweater party accessory for men is also available on ASOS, which sells a nine pack of their Fizz Holidays Beard Baubles for $13. Etsy sells a 12 pack for a more frugal $5.99; and Amazon is selling beard balls that actually jingle for $12.
And a more regal over-the-eye trend gone viral for women are Crown eyebrows. Sofie Peterson, an aspiring makeup artist from Denmark, created the quirky look using Vaseline and a clear brow gel to spike up her hairs. Each point is topped with a silver rhinestone to mimic a tiara. More than 10,000 people liked the photo since she posted it on Instagram recently.
