7-Eleven celebrates 90th birthday with free Slurpees.
Your next brain freeze is on the house.
7-Eleven turns 90 Wednesday and the convenience store is celebrating with what it does best: Slurpees.
To celebrate the milestone birthday, participating U.S. stores will give away around 9 million small Slurpees, including the new Cotton Candy flavor, for free from a very fitting 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The frozen fun continues all week. People who buy seven Slurpee drinks July 12 through July 18 and scan the store’s mobile app will get 11 coupons for free Slurpees anytime. The cold drink costs between $1.19 and $1.79 and the majority of the flavors contain around 65 calories per serving.
This year, the brain trust behind the brain freeze is introducing the Ultimate Slurp Straw – twice the width of a regular straw which they say makes it easier for the drink to go straight to your head.
The convenience store created the frozen carbonated drink in 1966 and it’s been a hit ever since. It started the tasty tradition of selling frozen slushy drinks for free annually since 2002.
Cotton Candy is the latest addition to the Slurpee menu. Others include Lemonade, Pepsi and Wild Cherry.
