It’s the right time to get a raise.
Companies are planning to give bigger raises to employees this year, according to data released Tuesday by Willis Towers Watson, a global advisory and solutions company. Indeed, the average salary increase for non-management employees is expected to be 3.1% in 2019, up from 2.9% this year. Executives and management will get a 3.1% boost.
But just because many companies are doling out raises doesn’t mean you’ll get one — or get a big enough one. So here’s some advice — from Chris Voss, former lead kidnapping negotiator for the FBI and author of “Never Split the Difference” — on how to get the raise you deserve.
