POTUS’s former Queens home sleeps 20 people
Come for the novelty, stay for the cardboard cutout of Donald.
A new Airbnb listing lets you stay in President Donald Trump’s Jamaica Estates home in Queens — where he lived until age 4 — for a cool $725 a night.
The 85-15 Wareham Place home offers five bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and 15 beds, plus two sofa beds. Amenities include the original kitchen, cable and internet, free parking and “opulent furnishings (that) represent the style and affluence in which the Trumps would have lived,” the description says.
“There is a giant cutout of Donald in the Living Room, he is a great companion for watching Fox News late into the night…” adds the host. Photos show framed photos of the eventual commander-in-chief, as well as a message that reads “In this bedroom, President Donald J. Trump was likely conceived, by his parents, Fred and Mary Trump. The world has never been the same.”
The listing “has no relationship with the White House, the President, Donald Trump or the Trump organization in any way,” the host writes. But Paramount Realty USA founder Misha Haghani, whose firm handled the home’s $2.14 million auction sale in March to an anonymous buyer, verified its authenticity to Moneyish.
The Airbnb lister is none other than real-estate investor Michael Davis, who bought the Tudor-style home for $1.39 million in December and flipped it at a 50% profit months later, Haghani said. The buyer in the March sale was “a Chinese woman,” he said without disclosing her identity, who decided to put the house up for rent. Davis then swooped back in to rent the property in a long-term leasing arrangement and put it on Airbnb, according to Haghani.
“I think it’s hysterical,” Haghani said. “And I think it makes a lot of sense as an Airbnb listing because I’m sure there are people who would want to spend a few bucks and stay in the childhood home of the sitting U.S. president.”
But Casa Trump isn’t your only opportunity to breathe rarefied celebrity air. Check out these five other Airbnb listings:
Bing Crosby: Forget about a “White Christmas.” The crooner’s posh 1934 Hacienda in sunny Palm Springs, Calif. offers four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a view of the San Jacinto Mountains. The pool area boasts a full wet bar and “an array of citrus trees with an abundance of oranges, lemons, and grapefruits.” ($753/night)
Elizabeth Taylor: Pining for Old Hollywood? “Casa Elizabeth” — a four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath estate in Palm Springs — bills itself as “a sanctuary of object d’art, photography, oil paintings” and “priceless possessions” that belonged to the ‘50s cinema star. “Be prepared to experience your own, private desert oasis,” the listing says. ($598/night)
Denzel Washington/Jimmy Page: Grab a stunning oceanside view in Malibu, Calif., with this “romantic, cozy, comfortable, tastefully decorated heavenly bluff-top retreat,” which once housed the likes of Washington, the Led Zeppelin founder, ‘70s husband-and-wife pop duo Captain & Tennille and “Airwolf” alum Jan-Michael Vincent, according to the lister. ($350/night)
Jimi Hendrix: Say Mahalo to the Gingerbread House in Makawao, Hawaii, where the rock legend allegedly stayed in 1970 during the filming of “Rainbow Bridge.” Nestled in dense greenery, the studio cottage has wood-beam walls, high ceilings and unfettered access to fruit trees galore. A painting tribute to Hendrix hangs on one wall. ($175/night).
Charlie Chaplin: Part of the Los Angeles apartment village Chaplin erected in the ‘20s, this cottage accommodates three and features “hand-cut stable doors, wood beams, bespoke windows … and medieval-style staircases with oxidized copper rooster wind-turns atop white-washed towers.” “Welcome to your hobbit cottage home!” says the host. ($200/night)
