Lee Radziwill’s pied-à-terre comes with a view of the Eiffel Tower
Paris’ chicest American octogenarian is selling her apartment.
The interior decorator and socialite Lee Radziwill has placed her Paris pied-à-terre on the market for $4 million. The sister and confidante of former First Lady Jackie Kennedy was also once European royalty via marriage, and her apartment in the French capital’s tony eighth arrondissement looks the part.
Decorated by the 84-year-old herself, the 1,615-square-foot, three-bedroom flat is situated on the sixth floor of a Hausmann-era building constructed in 1890. It comes with a 130-square-foot balcony that offers soaring views of the Eiffel Tower, two bathrooms, a shower and its own laundry room.
Radziwill divides her time between New York and Paris, where her sister famously charmed the French during a 1961 state visit. She now prefers to stay at the palatial Hotel Plaza Athénée nearby, Page Six reports.
Still, the hotel won’t be as homely as Radziwill’s longheld pad, which she had photographed for a T Magazine cover story in 2013. Among the touches Radziwill has put in include mint green curtains that can cover the French doors opening into the balcony, a large gilded mirror over a fireplace and half a dozen upholstered chairs in a pink and red chinoiserie design from Le Manach, fabric maker to the French elite. Also scattered about are art pieces like a sketch of Radziwill drawn by mid century Vogue illustrator René Bouché.
Emile Garcin in Paris holds the listing.
