Tesla wants to make your rooftop sexier.

Over the weekend, Tesla quietly posted photos of its ‘sleek and low-profile’ new solar panels for your roof, tech blog Electrek noticed. You can install these on your existing roof rather than having to install an entirely new solar roof, which Tesla also offers; they work with the company’s home battery, the Powerwall.

“Our solar panels blend into your roof with integrated front skirts and no visible mounting hardware,” the company writes. “The result is a clean, streamlined look.” Mashable notes of these new panels that while they “perhaps aren’t as nice as a whole solar roof … they do look quite fancy.”

Electrek says that the panels, which are made by Panasonic, will go into production this summer.

This is yet another part of Tesla’s push into solar. CEO Elon Musk announced on Twitter a few weeks ago that the company would begin taking perorders for solar roof times in mid-April. And in a meeting in October, Musk unveiled the company’s solar roof, stressing that design was key, as ugly solar panels keep people from going solar.
